anti-racism checklist

1. Anti-Racism, Access and Equity Policy Statement

The Sunday Variety Market is committed to creating a marketplace that is welcoming, inclusive, and equitable for all vendors, visitors, and team members. We recognize that systemic barriers continue to affect many members of our community, including but not limited to low-income residents, women, persons with disabilities, racialized and ethno-cultural communities, immigrants and refugees, Indigenous peoples, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.

We believe that diversity strengthens our market. Discrimination, harassment, or any conduct that undermines the dignity or participation of others will not be tolerated. We will act as a positive force to eliminate these barriers and to promote equitable access for everyone.

2. Anti-Racism, Access and Equity Complaints Procedures

The Sunday Variety market has a transparent, confidential process for addressing any concern of discrimination, harassment, or inequitable treatment. If you have a concern to address in this area, you can:

  1. Raise your concerns verbally with the on-site Market Manager during market hours or submit them in writing via this email address info@sundayvariety.com
  2. Within two (2) business days of receiving a complaint, the Market Manager will acknowledge receipt and outline next steps. Next, a small review team—consisting of the Market Manager and a designated community liaison—will gather statements and review relevant information within ten (10) business days.
  3. Findings and recommended actions (for example, mediation, vendor contract review, or formal warnings) will be documented and shared with both the complainant and the respondent. Corrective actions will be implemented promptly, and a follow-up check-in will occur within thirty (30) days to confirm resolution.

This process ensures that vendors, visitors, staff, and volunteers can raise concerns safely and trust that issues will be addressed fairly and consistently.
